Sallaberry: “With the CAyC, we put the entire design process on the table”

For the last interview of the #Épica (period 1970-1980), Juan Ruades talks with Carlos Sallaberry about his important activity around the CAyC and his link with Jorge Glusberg.

Carlos Sallaberry is an architect graduated from the UBA and, since the 70s, has been a member of the M|SG|S|S|V| Study. He was Vice President of the CPAU Professional Council of Architecture and Urbanism (1998-2002) and Dean of the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Palermo (2000 to 2010). Creator of the CAyC Design Department (1975), co-founder of ALADI (Latin American Association of Industrial Design, Mexico, 1976); BAAL (Latin American Biennial Network, Quito, 2012); and the Oscar Niemayer award for Latin American Architecture. Project Manager in the Buenos Aires 2004 Olympic Candidacy (1997/1998) and Director of the BIABA (Buenos Aires International Architecture Biennial) since 1989. He obtained numerous recognitions and awards as an architect and academic.

Juan Ruades is an architect, journalist and editor specialized in design. He worked at the Elemental studio (Chile) and carried out photographic projects in France, the United States and Mexico, where he temporarily resided. He is co-author of "Intermitencia: mendocino design" (2020) and has written in books such as "Material ideas: Argentine art and design in the 60s" (2019) and the catalog of the "Seal of Good Argentine Design 7th edition" (2017 ). He is a contributor to the magazine of the newspaper "La Nación", the independent publications "Balam" and "Compost" and the publishing house Paripé Books (Buenos Aires-Madrid). Until 2020, he has been responsible for the communication of IDA; and, At present, he is a member of the publishing area, in charge of a book on Edgardo Giménez.

#Epic: Feats of Argentine Design is the multi-format curatorial program with which IDA proposes to review a century of Argentine design history, from 1920 to 2020, through its collection and other guest files.
