Patrimonial Acquisitions Benedit Bis

We announce the Patrimonial Additions of the Benedit Bis clothing firm into the IDA Foundation.

Benedit Bis was created in 2001 by the sisters Rosa and Juana Benedit. Since its inception, the company has focused on textile creation. Through textile creations, both designers committed to define a new concept of design based on plastic art expressions that included a combination of chromatic diversity, a mixture of visual textures, prints, and unique jacquard-woven designs. They quickly earned wide recognition within the author fashion scene. The siblings were able to coin an original style defined for the visual complexity that persisted throughout the entire creative process, from the initial graphic ideas, throughout the diverse textile trials, and up to the production of molds using pleating and creasing techniques. In a first stage, they developed ways of intervening fabrics based on techniques such as tie-dyeing; then, together with the DARLENE weaver, they created textile designs to be woven in jacquard. They also developed textile patterns to stamp in an artisan way with Muchatela Estampa.

Being the daughters of textile designer Mónica Prebisch —as well as grand daughters of architect Alberto Prebisch— and of the artist and designer Luis Benedit, they belonged to a family connected to cultural creation. They both had experiences abroad:: Rosa lived and worked in París —the Yves Saint Laurent accessories department— and Juana studied textile design in the United States. Upon their return to Argentina, they embarked on a joint project that has evolved through the incorporation of different creative languages. The enterprise had its headquarters at the Promenade Gallery until 2021. Since 2011, Rosa has been the director of the fashion firm and deco atelier named after her. The new Benedit Bis patrimonial collection includes textile design processes, original fabrics and prints, fashion figurines, technical files, photographs, and advertising campaigns.
