Patrimonial Acquisition Peabody

ida_admin's picture

We announce the arrival of the Peabody collection to Fundación Ida.

Peabody, a home appliance manufacturer that belongs to the national company Goldmund S.A., has been directed since 2003 by  Dante Do Sun Choi, a South Korean immigrant who arrived in Argentina in 1977. Since his arrival, Choi reduced imports from Asian countries and boosted national production, which is currently being carried out in a 15.000 m2 industrial plant in Hurlingham. The E-TERMO is an outstanding piece of the new Peabody patrimonial fund. It was one of the products that participated in the industrial design contest sponsored by the company in 2017. Developed by the studio xCruza —led by the couple Carlos Genaud and Victoria Riqué—, the piece merges design, technology, and tradition. It combines the functions of an electric kettle and a thermos used to prepare mate tea, thus renewing the experience of making the popular Argentine infusion. Besides, its lid can be used as a thermic cup and mate gourd. A filter straw is also attached to its handle. It can contain up to 1 liter; it has an anti-spilling, brewing cap, a double stainless steel coating, and vacuum isolation (18/8). The appliance has two different heating options: “MATE” at 75°C and “MAX” at 90°C, to heat the water in 6 minutes.

The E-TERMO received the important international award Red Dot 2022 in two categories: Electrical Appliances and Innovative Products. The  E-TERMO, as well as its prototypes and the scale models manufactured during its production process of the award-winning piece, have been incorporated into the collection preserved by IDA.
