Homage to Frank Memelsdorff at the BID

A video paying homage to the design professional, who was one of the most important creators and cultural managers in the Ibero-American region, as a part of the Frank Memelsdorff Enterprises and Design award ceremony. The honoree was also consultant in the Theory and Management area of –I–D–A Foundation.

The honoree was also consultant in the Theory and Management area of –I–D–A Foundation.
The perfect setting to recognize such a crucial actor in the promotion of design was the 6th Ibero-American Design Biennial (BID).

As part of his outstanding career, Memelsdorff was a developer of both the Industrial Design Research Center (CIDI) and the BID, as well as consultant of the Metropolitan Design Center (CMD) and –I–D–A Foundation. He taught in Argentina, Spain, and Italy. He also wrote several books on theory. He directed the Agens, the exclusive agency servicing the Siam Di Tella group. Moreover, he established and led different branding and management companies in Buenos Aires, Barcelona, and Madrid.

The audiovisual piece, created with images taken from the –I–D–A collection, shows his relentless effort to articulate design, management, and enterprise.
By introducing this award, named after him, the BID intends to give visibility to those organization, small and medium enterprises, and big companies, with at least three years operating in the market, that implement design as a systemic, cross-disciplinary tool to produce innovation. This award compels the recipients to help spread the good example and the best practices among society and within the productive system.
