The management model implemented by –I–D–A Foundation articulates documents and pieces to encourage a deep interpretation of design and their contributions to the field.

The whole group of assets encompasses design in its wide scope and is organized in four major areas: Industrial and Product Design, Graphic Design and Visual Communication, Garment and Textile Design, and Thought and Management. As research evolves, these areas of design will expand: architectural, interior, landscape, audiovisual, and multimedia. The material is ordered in different collections based on authors, companies, and institutions, that enable allows simultaneous discussions.

The collection includes design icons chosen due to their territorial distinctiveness, overall quality, and aesthetic, social or technological innovation. It also includes other elements that represent initial stages of the work, previous to the conclusion of the product, for example: maquettes, practice pieces, and prototypes.

The archives are constituted by documents with different formats. Altogether, they reveal not only development techniques but also the creative, strategic, and productive facets of design. The set includes: work process testimonies (notebooks, journals, sketches, notes, blueprints); tridimensional processes (materials tests, maquettes, casts, molds, component and design pieces); oral, visual, and audiovisual records of specific projects and exhibitions (photographs, negatives, slides, plates, audios, and videos); communication and publicity documents (press, files, catalogues, posters, invitations); legal paperwork (letters, reports, patents, certificates). The diversity of these assets enables the reconstruction of processes, as well as the understanding of authors and their ideas.
